2014 WSGT Poster Contest Winner

The West Seattle Garden Tour is thrilled to announce Sue Madill as the winning artist chosen for the WSGT's 20th Anniversary Poster! Her original painting, Garden Delights, will also be for sale at one of the nine gardens featured on this year's July 20th garden tour. (Location to be announced.) Congratulations Sue!

Early retirement has allowed me to get back to my love of painting after a 40-year hiatus. The beauty of the natural world provides inspiration for much of my work. As a re-emerging artist, I strive to paint images that encourage dialogue, a thirst for knowledge and to entice others to seek adventures that nourish and enrich their lives. As a tool for developing my artistic voice, I'm currently exploring the interrelationship of multiple painting styles and techniques. For example, my representational painting of an owl merged with its abstracted mirror image creates interest and allows for multiple display options. Who knows where this approach will lead.

What I do know from direct experience is, what can be imagined can be done. That's why we're here.

In gratitude for my many blessings, portions of all my sales are donated to charitable causes. I am thrilled to have been selected as the winning artist for this year’s WSGT’s 20th annual poster. Thank you for the opportunity to contribute to this important fundraising event for West Seattle and its surrounding communities.
